Egg Depot General Labor (part-time)

The Egg Depot General Labor employee is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Egg Depot by receiving, documenting, storing, and shipping hatching eggs and supplies. This position performs inventory transactions using MTech, prepares shipping documentation, loads and unloads products, maintains a clean and organized facility, and assists with general facility maintenance. The ideal candidate is dependable, able to work independently, and committed to maintaining quality, safety, and biosecurity standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receive and enter incoming hatching egg inventory into the MTech system.
  • Process and document outgoing egg shipments to hatcheries.
  • Prepare delivery tickets and shipping documentation.
  • Load and unload hatching eggs and supplies safely and efficiently.
  • Operate electric forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and manual pallet jacks safely after completing company-provided training.
  • Transport hatching eggs and supplies while preventing product damage.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and related documentation.
  • Clean and organize the Egg Depot, work areas, and storage locations.
  • Assist with minor building repairs and general facility upkeep.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify management of supply needs.
  • Follow all company safety, quality assurance, and biosecurity policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with management, hatchery personnel, and transportation staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, text messaging, and data entry.
  • Ability to learn and use the MTech inventory management system.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional hours as business needs require.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to accurately maintain inventory records.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment following company training.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and biosecurity standards.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and twist.
  • Climb ladders and stairs as needed.
  • Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Possess sufficient manual dexterity to perform job duties safely.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a combination of warehouse, refrigerated storage, office, and outdoor loading areas.
  • Employees may be exposed to refrigerated temperatures while handling inventory and varying outdoor temperatures when loading or unloading trucks.
  • Office work includes inventory entry, email communication, and shipping documentation.
  • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
  • Employees are expected to follow all company safety and biosecurity protocols at all times.
